Getting Approval For Shipping to the UK from HM Customs
- For duty and tax relief, a "Transfer of Residence" application has to be completed / submitted online to UK Customs for approval to obtain a unique reference number (URN). Here is the link to H.M.Customs "Application for Residence Relief" (Some exemptions apply, such as transferring residence for the purpose of schooling)
- Complete ToR01 Application for Transfer of Residence and send it to HM Revenue and Customs. If your application is successful you’ll be sent a unique reference code to give to Jet (or other carrier) so customs declaration into the UK can be made on your behalf.
- A complete itemized packing list with declared values must be included with your shipment
- Items must be used
- Restricted items include tobacco / alcohol, drugs (including prescription drugs), items with batteries including laptops, perfumes, cell phones, hand tools (and batteries themselves), food and other perishables
- Maximum recommended weight per piece via Jet is 40 kg and the maximum dimension of any piece is 110 cm.
