Jet Worldwide helps Canadian commercial shippers send to Manila and the Philippines from Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Edmonton for duty-free delivery for most parcels valued under PHP 10 000 (around CAD 250).
The Filipino Bureau of Customs (BOC) allows most goods valued under PHP 10 000 to be cleared duty-free in concurrency with Customs Administrative Order (CAO) 02-2016. The order covers imported goods with de minimis value.
Section 423 of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act, states that “no duties and taxes shall be collected on goods with a freight on board or free carrier value of PHP 10 000 or below." Goods with de minimis value are considered importation with negligible amount and entitled to immediate release.
This is good news for Canadians shipping parcels to the Philippines. Jet Worldwide can also provide a Canadian address for shipping to the Philippines via our low-cost parcel delivery service.
It is important to note that all goods otherwise regulated by Filipino authorities are subject to the same rules and restrictions - regardless of value. Imported tobacco, wines and spirits within the de minimis value (low-value threshold) are still subject to payment of excise tax, as mandated under the National Internal Revenue Code.
No matter which carrier you use when sending from Canada, the high duty-free threshold is a benefit shippers to the Philippines will benefit.

What is a balikbayan box?
A balikbayan box is a large container typically used by Filipinos living abroad to send packages to family and friends in the Philippines. These boxes are filled with goods for personal use including food, clothing, personal care products, and gifts or to loved ones in the Philippines. The term "balikbayan" comes from the Tagalog words "balik" (meaning "return") and "bayan" (meaning "country"), and is intended to convey the idea of a Filipino returning home with gifts for family and friends.
Jet Worldwide does not offer balikbayn services.
